Hawaii Day 1 & 2

From May 12-19, Dan & I had a getaway to Hawaii.  We (more like "he") have been very busy lately with the store, and we were celebrating Dan being done with tax season!  So Sunday morning we left home at 4:00 am (that's always fun) to make the trek to Omaha airport.  We flew to Denver, LA, and on to Honolulu.  LA to Honolulu was the longest stretch at about 5 1/2 hours.  I know I've been on much longer flights (Africa!), but that last one seemed to last forever!!!  Once we hit Honolulu, we had to grab a jumper flight to the island of Kauai.  That flight ended up being delayed about an hour, but at least it was the last flight!  We got into Lihue, Kauai, and found our rental car.  (Dan picked a 2013 Jeep Wrangler :)  The island of Kauai is only about 20 by 30 miles, but it takes an hour to drive north to our resort area because of curvy roads and a 35 mph speed limit.  Keep these facts in mind, because it was also pitch black, we didn't know where we going, and then it started downpouring!  Anyway, after getting to Princeville and going around the same circle three times, we finally found our resort.  We got checked in and went to find our unit...and found it locked from the inside!  At this time, we have been up for about 24 hours straight...and I'll want is a BED! I ran back to the desk (in the rain), told the lady the problem, and she proceeded to mutilate some unlocking tool for the next ten minutes while she unsuccessfully tried to open our door.  After getting a security man involved, she finally had the mind-blowing idea to move us to a different room...who would have thought of that?!  So not too many fun things happened on day one :)
On Monday I didn't want to get up, even though Hawaii is five hours ahead of us in time zones.  Dan was all excited to go exploring...and it was raining.  All I could think about was Grandma Moss telling me about her & Grandpa's trip to Hawaii many moons ago, and how it rained the entire time.  I was afraid we were in for a repeat experience!  So we were pretty boring and just got some groceries and then drove around the area to figure out where things were.  We stopped to explore and take a few pics, but they didn't turn out so great because it was so cloudy!
