18 Months!

Lydia is already 1 1/2!  Like every month, time seems to be flying by.  We did lots of fun things this month, and most of them involved family or being outside!

I really don't know how much Lydia weighs.  We're a little off with our doctor visits, so we'll actually have her 18 month check at the end of July (when she's 19 months!).  All of a sudden I feel that she's growing taller again, but we're still in mostly 18 month clothing with a few 24 month pieces thrown in the mix.  She wears a 4 in shoes.

This past month, Lydia has turned into a pretty horrible napper.  Part of it might be my fault, as our "schedule" (I use that word semi-loosely) was completely mixed up by me doing the summer reading program in Hull two days a week.  Lydia has been getting a lot of time in with the grandmas!  I think the other thing we're fighting is some sort of separation anxiety, because she started crying when brought to church nursery around the same time as all of this.  Anyway, she has never been a consistent napper since the day she was born, and lately you could probably set a timer from 15-40 minutes from putting her down and she would wake up!  I tried every.single.thing I could think of, to no avail.  After she wakes up screaming her head off, I'll sometimes go get her and she will just zonk out on me without me doing a single thing or trying to make her comfortable.  Lydia is such a mystery, because I do the same routine for naptime and bedtime, and at night she just rolls over and goes to sleep without a peep!  Anyway, she has actually slept decently the past two days, so I'm hoping that trend continues, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high!

Lydia is starting to get even more independent.  She's talking more all the time.  Even if she doesn't have the word for something, you can usually tell fairly quickly what she wants!  Climbing has also become a new favorite activity for Lydia...the chair, couch, glider ottoman, piano bench, window seat, etc.  She can't quite get on our rolling kitchen chairs, and she gets very frustrated by that!  Lydia can also get frustrated when she can't get something done the way she wants it after a few tries (ex: putting toys in a bag, puzzle pieces in correctly, etc.).  We just tell her to try again!
Daniel's older brother and family were around for two weeks this month, so Lydia got to have a lot of playtime with her cousins (more on that later).  She loved hugging them and quickly picked up "NoNoNoNoNo" from Hannah!  :)

We put up a little inflatable pool in the backyard that we've used a few times.  Lydia's more apt to walk around/squat in it than actually sit down.  She has also found a new love of helping to water flowers and loves to run underneath the hose and get wet.  As a family, we have been going on lots of bike rides around town this summer.  We've made a goal to hit every park.  We crossed off Schemper, Thorman, City Park, and Christian School off our list already.  Only two (that I know of!) left to go!

Lydia's dislikes this month:
fresh green beans (she doesn't know what she's missing!), when either grandma leaves our house, napping, and sometimes church nursery

Lydia's likes this month:
splashing in the water, grapes and apples, saying "No," playing with cousins, climbing, giving hugs, going away (anywhere!), finding all the pictures of puppies at the furniture store, hide & seek puzzles, Dear Zoo book, being tickled and chased

Happy half birthday, Lydia!  We love you!
