A few days late is better than never, but Lydia is already 10 months old! Wow! Our monthly "photo shoot" is turning into a challenge...she is quite wiggly and not one to want to stay still! Lydia is about 22 pounds and who knows how long! Her weight gain was probably stymied a bit by a nasty virus she fought for about five days in the middle of the month. Let's just say Lydia and Mommy changed clothes many times (I'm not quite sure why Daddy never had to?!? Hmm...) Thankfully she got over that bug and is definitely back to her curious and VERY energetic self!
Lydia's eats and sleeps about the same as before, except her naps are probably worse since the virus. They were never a consistent length, but now it seems to be a struggle to get her to take much more than a 30-40 minute nap two times a day. I might just have to face the fact that I may have a child who won't need much sleep...but I'm not quite ready to come to terms with that yet ;) As far as the eating goes, she's obviously not lacking in this department, but it has been a struggle to introduce her to "real" table foods. While Lydia has inherited her father's funny faces, energy, and vocal volume, she has inherited my gagging abilities :( (My mom just laughs because she remembers me gagging on many things as a small child--this is the reason I don't eat fish sticks!)
My child will put any toy, spatula, spoon, or even paper into her mouth if you let her, but the minute you put an itsy bitsy piece of food (banana, carrot, pea, pear, mashed potato, etc.) that has a little bit of texture to it, she gags and might just toss up anything else you have already fed her. We've still been attempting to feed her bits and pieces and some stage 3 jars of baby food, but it makes for big fights at meal times. Lydia is just not a fan! We're hoping she comes around...soon!
Anyway, here's some things she does like: her mom (probably due to being sick earlier in the month), climbing (on the dishwasher, Grandma TC's steps, Grandma M's window bench, the treadmill), playing boo, standing next to everything, chasing the vacuum, trying to open drawers/cupboards, and drinking water. Lydia still loves reading books and being outside, although that looks like it's coming to an end quickly!
Besides real food, Lydia also doesn't care for the 6:00 siren, having her nose sucked out, drinking juice, or being taken away from something she wants but isn't necessarily supposed to have.
We've had a few more firsts/new things this month: first ride on the chopper with Uncle Craig and the combine with Grandpa Moss, first virus, and Lydia's 3rd tooth came in on the bottom. Lydia is constantly pulling up to stand by everything and walking along furniture. She'll also use her walker to cruise across the living room carpet. Lydia will finally feed herself Puffs on occasion and sometimes will do the sign for "all done" after eating.
And somehow we find ourselves at the BACK END of another month! Love you to pieces, Lydia!
