Lydia Ruth is 16 months old already!
We've all had a busy month around here! Two weeks ago, Lydia was in to see the doctor for the start of an ear infection and virus while Mommy had a sinus infection! Then two days later, Daddy got the flu! And top it all off, Dan & I flew out to North Carolina for a furniture market at the end of that week. Thankfully we were all mostly healthy by that point, and Lydia had a blast splitting her time between both sets of grandparents. Pretty sure she didn't miss us at all! Coming back home was another story, though. This peanut turned all sorts of clingy on me and was NOT happy when I had to be gone the first two nights I was home! Anyway, yay for life slowing down a bit! Here's her 16 month update!

Cool chick! |
Lydia is just over 24 pounds. She seems to be a little taller than some other kids her age, but I think most of her height is in her torso (she gets that rightfully!). Her jeans are a little long for her. She is wearing all 18 month clothes now, and seems to be starting an obsession with shoes. Uh-oh!

Lydia is saying more and more words all the time. To be fair, she's mostly saying the beginning part of the word, but we can usually tell what she means when she's not all-out babbling. Here are some of her words:
-Brr (bird) --said about 50 x's a day!
-Jish (juice)
-Meh (milk)
-Chz (cheese)
-Baba (grandpa/papa)
-Meme (Minnie Mouse)
-Buh (this could be bread, bath, bus, bike, or bean. I'm finding out there are SO many words that start with /B/!)
-Sh (shoe)
-Sss (sock)
-Boon (spoon or balloon)
-Ball
-Buh Brr (Big Bird)
There are probably more, but this is what I can think of right off hand.

Looks like cousin Merritt needs to give L some riding lessons! |
While Dan and I were gone, Lydia mastered the art of shaking her head "no," and nodding "yes." Sometimes this is helpful when trying to figure out what she wants; other times it's frustrating how many "nos" the little girl says!
Before we left on our trip, Lydia's appetite was really dragging from being sick and her antibiotic, but she has more than made up for that little lag! This girl can't seem to get enough to eat lately, and she has developed a love for watermelon!

Lydia is LOVING being outside! I think we were outside for about 2+ hours yesterday. She loves to swing, run around, play with rocks, chase Daddy, and play with her ball and bubbles. Lydia also loves to watch people/animals go by our house. We took our new bike trailer out for the first time yesterday, and Lydia was in love! I forgot to take a picture, but I will soon because she is just adorable in her little bike helmet!

Yes, this girl does have quite the pout face! |
Lydia still loves to "help" around the house: emptying the bottom of the dishwasher, pretending to wash windows and dust like Mommy, and she LOVES the vacuum cleaner. She also loves juice, music, eating snacks, books, her grandparents, playing with other kids, going to the furniture store (really going anywhere...she looks at me and says "bye" all the time), and all sorts of animals.
