Two Months!

Lydia is 2 months old!

As you can see, our girl is starting to get some chunk!  We went to the doctor on Thursday for her two month checkup.  Lydia weighs 12 lbs, 4 oz (86th percentile) and is 23.5 inches tall (90th percentile).  She also had to get her first round of shots :(
We can definitely tell she is growing!  Lydia is still wearing 0-3 month clothing, but her onesies are starting to get a little stretched for length.  Wonder where she gets all that height?!  Haha.  For the past two weeks she has been drinking 4.5 ounces at every feeding.  During the day she'll eat about every 3-4 hours.  We are usually gifted one- five or six hour stretch at "night."  I use this term loosely because sometimes she thinks "night" time starts at 5:00 pm.  We haven't quite figured out how to shove that back a few hours yet!
During the day, Lydia will be awake for 1-2 hours after each feeding.  She naps best when she's laying on someone...like Grandpa :)  She's starting to love her NUK pacifier to fall asleep at naptime.  She's like her Mom and does not like lights when she's trying to sleep, so we usually end up throwing a light swaddle blanket over her face to aid in the process.
Our sweet girl has started to SMILE and COO so much this past week!!!  This Mommy thinks it's the best thing in the world!  And I might be a bit prejudiced in thinking that we have one of the cutest little girls in the world... :)  She has also discovered her tongue...she's constantly playing with it!
Lydia also loves to "sit" up.  We can't wait to try out the Bumbo soon.  She loves to look around!  She is tracking things with her eyes and looks toward the source of the sound.
Speaking of sounds, we have discovered that Lydia does not like extremely loud, sudden noises.  Both Grandpa and Daddy have managed to scare her lately.  Daddy laughed too loud at the TV the other night and we heard the consequences from Lydia for quite awhile after that!  (This "noisy" thing might be difficult for Daddy--you better get used to it quick, girl!  You don't have quiet extended families!)
Unless we have somewhere exciting to go, Lydia and Mommy spend time around the house doing all the fun things like laundry (can't you tell she's thrilled to help?!), cooking, cleaning, etc.  We are SO anxious for springtime!  We can't wait to go for lots of walks outside in our new stroller!
We love you, Lydia!  It's hard to believe another month just flew by!  You're getting big so quickly!  We love you  more and more everyday!

Thankful...

At 4:33 am this morning, I was fighting to stay awake.  I had already been up at 12:30, 3:00, and 4:15 am by this point.  All I wanted was my bed and some blessed sleep.  That's usually all I want lately.  But as I was rocking in the glider, with my little lady snuggled in my arms, I realized that my interrupted sleep is something I need to remember to be thankful for.

It's been so easy being thankful for the "big" things:
-a relatively easy birth and delivery after a somewhat complicated pregnancy
-a beautiful and healthy baby girl who is doing great
-family and friends who are so willing to help out and eager to love on Lydia

It's not even been difficult to be thankful for the "smaller" things with Lydia:
-her baby blue eyes and long lashes
-the smiles and coos that literally melt my heart and make me fall in love all over again
-that one dimple :)
-chunky thighs (I can relate...)
-the fact that she already has her Daddy wrapped around her little finger...and he loves every minute of it

But last night (or was it this morning?) I realized I can't just be grateful for all of the "fun" things.  We prayed so hard for our little lady and were granted the most wonderful miracle in her birth.  Here is my reminder that I need to be thankful for the things that aren't always my favorite.  So (gulp...) I'm choosing to be thankful for...
-dirty diapers.  Even the times I get the "dirt" on me...when it keeps coming halfway through changing her.  It means she's healthy!
-the times she's crying and I can't figure out what in the world she wants.  She's got great lungs!
-lack of sleep.  Whether it's one or three times during the night, these are just extra times I get to snuggle her while she's still little.  (But don't get me wrong, we are still aiming to sleep through the night sooner or later!)
-being stuck at home because it's about -40 degrees outside.  We'll just be that much more thankful when we can be outside this spring and summer!

I know there's much, much more to be thankful for, but this is the short list for now.  And I have a feeling I'll need to remind myself of it again in a few days...or hours :)

Making Music

And after 10 minutes, Lydia's sick of it!  And I promise she didn't learn that pout lip from me.  Haha :)

There's no question...

if Lydia is my child or not!  Check out these pictures!
This is me (just a couple of weeks old) in a sleeper my Grandma V sewed.

Here's Lydia in that same sleeper!  She's just a tad older and bigger!  And we caught a smile in this picture!

Here's a picture of me at about 5 months.  Safe to say Lydia and I have the same round face!

Happy Valentine's Day!
